The Language of Faith

Last night we had an amazing Relief Society activity. We had a special guest speaker come to our ward and she gave a presentation on the Language of Faith. She shared a lot of things that really struck a cord with me.

"The kind of life you live, your disposition, your very nature, will be determined by your thoughts. - David O. McKay

Now I have heard this quote before, but I guess it just never really sank in. I can have COMPLETE power to gain control of every aspect of myself due to the thoughts I have. She talked about the difference in the language of Despair (The degrading way I usually speak to myself during the day when I don't measure up to my own expectations) versus the language of Faith. (Thoughts that bring me closer to God, increase love for myself, and build hope)

"To have a Faith-filled life, I must have Faith-filled thoughts."

She compared it to a garden, it will take time and hard work to see my efforts of thinking this way making a difference, just like planting a seed. Also, no matter how many good things you plan in a garden, if you don't get rid of the weeds, before long they take over. Just like negative thinking. So today I choose the Language of Faith!

I wrote down the things I have been dwelling on negatively lately, and turned them around. I will look at them every day when I study my scriptures. With time I know I will believe these thoughts even more than the negative thoughts I used to have in place of them.

1. I am beautiful
2. I can accept a compliment and take it as truth instead of doubting or counteracting it
3. I have been given everything I need to be the kind of wife and mother I want to be
4. I can be a success in my life and strengthen the talents my Heavenly Father has given me

We're Still Alive

It's been to long since I've posted, but life has been crazy these last few weeks. Ever since Trey's birthday I have been wanting to do an entire post about his 1st birthday celebration, but time has not been on my side lately. So Today when I caught him EATING the soil and rocks out of my new Mother's Day lilies that I got yesterday... I decided it's time! The Birthday post will still come, but this is just a quick look at what has been happening at our house the last while.

Is it bad if I let him keep playing in them long enough to take a picture?

Trey got to help Daddy mow the lawn! It was quite a sight... and a workout I'm sure, but a good memory to.

And here's the birthday preview... many more to come as soon as I find the time!

I sure love this little guy and can't believe he is already a year old!!

5 Seconds

Today we are starting off our morning by taking it easy and watching a little of the Lorax. Both of my boys are trying to get over a nasty cold that we caught last week, but I got a few snuggles out of Trey... which is just about the ONLY perk to having a sick baby boy.

But on a regular day, I have discovered that it only takes about 5 seconds for me to turn around and he has found his way into some sort of mischief. I try to get most of these instances on camera... but when he took my comb for a swim in the toilet last week, my Mamma instincts kicked in way before my photographer instincts so we went toilet fishing and hand washing before going for the camera.

Here are just a few of the other "adventures" we find ourselves in,

if he gets out of my sight for more than about a second.

Since setting up the humidifier in his room, he has pulled it onto the floor

and spilled water all over at least once a day.

Raw potatoes for dinner

The table goes from a Jungle Gym to a Prison Cell in a blink of an eye when he can't figure out how to get back out again

To our surprise, he knows how to climb stairs all of a sudden.

He can get clear up the stairs in about 15 seconds.

And since he was not feeling good earlier this week, I gave in and let him play

in the dishwasher... he loved it!

Up and down.... and up and down.

And one day he found my scarf on the floor. He played peek-a-boo with it for a bit, and then I found him walking around with it on his neck!

Then I heard a noise from his room and went to check it out. He crawled in behind his changing table and was pulling everything off the shelves... and still sporting the scarf to :)

I am a lucky Mom to get to chase this little guy around every day.

New Kicks

Yesterday while we were at Wal-Mart grocery shopping, we got a little side tracked in the shoe section. 20 minutes later... and we are all coming home in pretty new canvas shoes :) I couldn't resist the photo opp!

And this is how Treyson can usually be found... pushing his favorite cart all around the house.

Time to Celebrate!

We had our anniversary last week, but since Lloyd was working that day we didn't celebrate until he had a day off. Since he was in charge of our Valentine's Day plans this year, I took over our anniversary. I decided to make a little bit of fun out of a tight budget and a somewhat normal day! I sent Lloyd on picture scavenger hunt for our plans. :)

-Each of these envelopes had a picture inside and he didn't get his next clue until he went to the place in the picture and followed the instructions-

First I made breakfast... Copy Cat "Crew" Sandwich from Gandolfo's, which is Lloyds Favorite

Clue #1: We had both won prizes from the radio station for our march madness brackets, so he opened his envelope and was instructed to pick up our prizes.

Clue #2: Before leaving the radio studio his next clue was to take Treyson home for a nap where "Pepper and Buddy" were waiting for him in his crib.

Clue #3 was to stop to fill up on gas and get drinks :) Lloyd always says every road trip needs drinks, and we even had a coupon for a free one!

Clue #4: This was a pretty vague clue. I wasn't sure Lloyd would recognize it, but it said we could go for a walk and then play for a while.

Clue 4.1: He actually guessed with the first picture, but this was a back up in case it was to hard... If anyone is from around here you know the Jensen's Grove pavilion when you see it!

The plan was to take Treyson for a walk in his stroller and then play on the swings and slide, but mother nature didn't like that idea. It was so windy we barely lasted 10 minutes just to hit a couple of the slides

Thank goodness it was still fun and we had enough time to get a few cute pictures!

Clue #5: It was time to go to Granni's house where another stuffed puppy was waiting in the crib for Treyson since it was nap time again.

Once we got to Granni's there was a picnic basket waiting us! We left Trey there to spend the night, and went for a little drive and enjoyed our picnic in the car... darn wind!

Clue #6: Find the nearest Redbox to pick out a movie for later that night.

We decided on Taken 2.

Clue #7: Did you save any room for Dessert?

We stopped by for a frozen yogurt.

Clue #8 was to head back home. Lloyd was needing a haircut, so we had enough time to go spruce up before heading to dinner.

Clue #9: Time for Texas Roadhouse where we had dinner with our friends Doug and Laura who were celebrating their anniversary to! (On a side note, Laura used her necklace Voodoo over my wrist to predict how many kids we will have... looks like were in for 4 boys and then a girl) haha

Clue #10 after dinner lead us back home to Lloyd's truck. The day before I had filled up the back with pillows, blankets, and movie treats! I borrowed a projector from a neighbor and we planned to project the movie onto a sheet I hung on our back porch as a movie screen, while we snuggled up in the back. Sadly while we were setting up we realized our extension cord wasn't long enough, and the darn wind was still going crazy, so our "movie screen" wasn't exactly cooperating. :(

So a little bummed that my only "cool" factor for the whole day was failing, I suggested projecting onto the garage door instead! It worked great!

The weather was supposed to be better than it turned out, so unfortunately we were frozen to the bone halfway through the movie and had to go inside to finish anyway... but it was still fun :)

It was a great anniversary celebration, and I am one lucky girl to have snagged such an amazing husband!

Easter!

We have come a long way since Easter last year. I was 38 weeks pregnant and getting excited to finally meet Treyson! And now, a whole year later, we all got to enjoy his very first Easter on the outside! :)
